Name: Karen Shorrock on May 1, 2012Comments: I too am against this speedy approach to Academy status. A full parental consultation is urgently needed so that the school has the opportunity to prove to parents that moving to Academy would be a safe option. I have doubts regarding the school's ability to manage being an Academy and feel there would be a huge loss of support from the Local Authority which would have a detrimental effect on the welfare of students.Flag

Name: Karen Goodman on Jun 22, 2012Comments: I am totally against Waseley Hills High School, Rubery achieving acadamy status. I do not believe this is in the interests of the school, it's pupils, it's staff or the parents of the children attending. I do not believe the full story has been given.Flag

Name: Katherine Galbraith on Jun 28, 2012Comments: I am a parent with a child at Waseley. I am against the move to the school becoming an Academy, and do not believe that it is in the pupils best interests to convert. The current situation is yet another sad example of how this school fails repeatedly fails to consult parents on important matters, more concerning in this case, on issues that affect the very fabric of their education. No school should take a decision of this enormity without a complete consultation of fully informed parents, and certainly never passed without a majority vote from those parents.Flag

Name: John L.F. Hemingway on Jul 9, 2012Comments: It is clear that the Head and Chair are running their own agenda here as neither appear to know why the need to become an academy although very likely the former will get a payrise. No financial planning apparent even though academies have to cover ALL of their own costs with no LA back-up/support. This includes buildings insurance, tribunals etc. to name but two. Academy conversion has absolutely nothing to do with teaching and learning as national results show it does not prevent OFSTED categories happening nor can it ever affect pupil outcomes.Flag
