How will Halton girls hockey even compete with the rest of Ontario without rep players? I know that our High School as many others in Halton have walk on teams which include all levels of hockey players. You might as well have eliminated it all together!Flag

Name: Alison Macdonald on Jan 21, 2013Comments: This entire thing is rediculous. With only 120 house league players in Oakville and 10 highschools, that leaves 13 players per school, providing there is equal demograph distribution among players and their school which is highly unlikely. Bye bye high school girls hockey. It seems highly unfair to not allow Rep girls to play high school hockey while still allowing Rep soccer players, or volleyball players, or basketball players to play their sport in high school.Flag

Name: Karen Gray on Jan 24, 2013Comments: This decision needs to be discussed much further before outright banning rep players. The differences between boys hockey and girls hockey is huge..... there are many more boys playing hockey therefore they can limit teams to to exclude rep players, but with girls hockey, some schools are lucky to be able to build a team using both rep and houseleage players. By banning rep players, these highschool teams will no longer exist.... what a sad situation. Keep the school team spirit alive by allowing all players to try out and play for their school. It is much more than just hockey....it is school spirit!Flag

Name: Joanne McLeod on Jan 24, 2013Comments: Regardless of PLAYING ABILITY and SPORT/ACTIVITY, ALL students should have the RIGHT to PLAY for their school. By implimenting such action that "rep hockey players are ineligible which I believe is based soley on their ability then all other school activities and sports should fall under the same rule - anyone who participates in an outside sport or activity cannot participate in a school program since they would have an advantage. Totally misses the point of the benefits of participating in school programs and reality. Should students who read more than others outside of school be penalized for getting better grades??? There will not even be enough players to make a team without rep. Why does soccer or volleyball or basketball not have the same rules?Flag
