I am a teacher at Hall Cross upper and lower schools. Many parents like having the option of a split site school. It would be a tragedy if the school was reduced by the proposed amount especially due to the council's plans which show little evidence of clear research or of how the proposal would actually improve standards in education in Doncaster.
its such a waste to get rid of the upper school location. its much better for students and staff. and its a nicer building!

This was my grammar school , I spent many happy hours here, especially as a librarian. It was my favourite room in the building.

I am absolutely disgusted at the councils proposal for our local schools , with Hall Cross in particular. What a wonderful school, with great teaching staff, who are dedicated & motivated. I am totally against the closure of the upper school & disagree very strongly with the plans for the lower school site. I'm even more frustrated at the prospect of loosing the democratic right as a parent in my choice of school for my children, if the council proceed with their plans to change the catchment areas & make radical changes to our current system parents will have no option in the choice of schools available for their children. Some serious questions need to be addressed, if I'm being told where I can send my children for their school education, who can reassure me that all our schools will attain the same level of academic achievement ? I could go on. Join the campaign to save our schools & sixth form choices.

i think that it appauling that Martin Winter(apparant mayor) wants to close HallCross Uper School! How would he like it if it was the school that his children went to? i dont think he'd stand for it then...all he wants to do is turn us into a city...also i think that getting rid of St James is discusting! Then we wont have a proper swimming bath (as you can't call the one at the Dome one; thats just a "fun pool") Why should we close down the school, cut students and cram them into one school, thats they reason why theres two as hall cross has good ratings for a school as then they can teach and keep more children.i dont think he's thought this through properly, this will leave many people (probably most of Doncaster )outraged with these stupid plans. it's not making Doncaster better it's ruining it!! All it seems he want's is the money. what i dont understand is that HallCross is a registered building, so he can't knock it down so whats he going to do with it? turn that into another frenchgate (that nearly bankrupted Doncaster fund?) i hate what he's doing! if you have any problems with my view feel free to call me!
cutting down the school numbers is a stupid idea!! leave things how they are!!

The school has loadsof character and should not be closed. It will change and spoil our childrens future.
please save Hallcross upper school.. not only would it be a shame to wipe out all those years of school history, there is also a railway museum on the site of Hallcross.. plus the school is central and easy accesible to all Children in Doncaster with Brilliant sporting faclilties too..where would kids go for sport if you get rid of brillant schools with very good facilities

I have a question: If the council wants to reduce the size of the school based on figures that suggest a fall in birth rate, why then was it featured in the same issue of the Free Press that they plan to build more homes? Is it me, or is this slightly contradictory? I would like this explained to me, preferably by "mayor" Winter as he stands scared and repentant in front of the faces of all the Doncastrians he has short-changed over the years. I don't see why we should trust a council which obviously makes a decision on statistics cherry-picked because they are convenient and a means to an end.

I disagree entirely with the closure of the Upper School site. How can the government be improving secondary schools by denying 1000 students access to their choice of school?
the school is a needed historical aspect of doncaster as a whole not only for the hundreds of children who attend.

I am a parent and feel the school should stay open, we will lose the history of the school if the council allow this closure

SAVE OUR SCHOOL!
Why do we need new schools when the money should be made available to equip the excellent schools that Doncaster already have DMBC need to listen to what the pupils and teachers want and not glory seeking, arrogant, out of touch, fat cat politicions that are continually getting it wrong, they need to be reminded that the pupils of today are the electorate of tomorrow ,BEWARE!

Under no circumstances should the historic town site be closed. Call me cynical but wouldn't it make a lovely prime centre location for redevelopment - imagine the historic Gilbert Scott Library could even become a pub or nightclub. I hope the staff understand that we thoroughly support them as following on from the Ofsted this must be another demoralising blow. Thanks for the brilliant education my children are receiving.

I cannot believe that the council are even considering closing down this wonderful school. Have they ever been in it? It has excellent facilities and the library is such an asset. How dare they take this away from the young people of Doncaster?

I attended the old Doncaster Grammar School from 1941-1948 and am a Life member of the Old Danensians' Club. It would be extremely against my convictions to see Hall Cross School closed as an educational establishment.
Even me Newcastle great Jean Alain Boumsong have taken time out to put my delightfull skills to this save our school
Don't let the oldest school in Doncaster be replaced by a block of flats / car park. This council is quickly allowing the destruction of all the town's character. We need to be proud of our home town - Doncaster was high on the recent list of worst places to live when most of the best places to live in the country were applauded for preserving the local heritage. Doncaster has a strong history but we are wiping it all away,
save ouur skewal !! ;; xo
I think even discussing clsing upper hallcross down is 100% disgusting. The school has offered so much to so many people. It will be a sad sad day if this goes ahead

I'm in year 11, and although these changes shouldn't affect me directly, I am still extremely concerned for the furtue students and the other stakeholders who will be affected. Personally, from talking to fellow students, other teachers and parents, I have not yet heard not one positive commet about these proposed changes to the schools in Doncaster. thank you for putting the time in. ami xxx
SAVE THE SCHOOL THE COUNCIL ARE WRONG TO KNOCK THIS PIECE OF HISTORY I THINK WE SHOULD KNOCK DOWN THE MANSION HOUSE INSTEAD AND BUILD A LEARNING CENTER THERE
This school is one of the best schools in South Yorkshire. It has an incredible 6th form, with a high Oxbridge acceptance rate, and to shut it down would be a travesty. I hope the council see sense.

DON'T CHANGE A PERFECTLY GOOD SCHOOL.
instead of ruining the school why dont you improve it - used to be the top school in doncaster!!
SOS - Save hall cross school
