Town, State, Comments... : I live in Burlington Iowa, and though I don't have any children but when I do, I want the choice as to weather I want my child to attend full or half day kindergarten. I am writing a paper for my english paper on why half day kindergarten is better for the children, but more then that why parents should be able to choose which they want to send their child/children to.

Town, State, Comments... : Fife Lake, Michigan Full Time Kindergarten must be a choice for parents!! Research on the benefits are inconclusive at best and there is evidence that too much school at such a young age can even cause problems.

Town, State, Comments... : York PA- I felt so strongly about this that after moving children because of higher education in three states, I put my son in a Catholic Private school just for a "transitional year". Let them have a childhood, they grow with pressure fast enough!

Town, State, Comments... : I am a kindergarten teacher (11 years exp.) and have taught preschool (8 years exp.). 5 and 6 year old children DO NOT benefit from being in a structured, school environment for 6 hours per day. They need time to be children, without adults planning their every move and activity.

Town, State, Comments... : Unfortunately all day Kindergarten is really for those that need child care. As a stay at home parent I feel that I should have the choice to half day Kindergarten. I believe that the one on one time thaat we could spend together during the day would be much more benificial!!!

Town, State, Comments... : Chester, Calif I agree that parents should have the choice as to what is best for their child. Some are ready for a full day of activity and some are just not mature enough for that kind of stress and separation from their parent(s).

Town, State, Comments... : woodbridge, VA, i have 5 year old twin, my daughter seems to be coping well with the full day schedule but my son is "sonked" /completely exhausted by pickup time, he collapses in his car seat and is dying to take a nap, i feel so sorry for him and wonder why do we have to rush our children so much at such an early age, they have all there lives to learn, i feel he is being cheated out of his childhood. i absolutely agree with halfday kindergarten

Town, State, Comments... : Springville, California I teach kindergarten. Half day allows two teachers to assist one another in the room. It provides better quality instruction in a shorter time period. The children go home still enjoying school, not exhausted with time for family.
