Reopen Haiku Stairs

We support the re-opening Haiku Stairs.

The Friends of Haiku Stairs, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to preserving Haiku Stairs and its environment for current and future generations.

  • Peter Janssen Hope to open and maintain the Haiku Stairs; as a commercially viable ecological tourist destination on Oahu with minimal negative impact on the neighborhood. The views from above are priceless and hope to have the opportunity to climb the stairs legally soon.

  • Nicholas Fern (Born and raised Windward local and avid hiker) The Haiku Stairs hike is one of the most enjoyable and beautiful ways to experience Oahu. It would be a real tragedy and loss to locals and tourists alike if it were to be shut down simply because of access. There is plenty of area there for a small parking lot. If access like that were made available the residents wouldn't need to be disturbed by people sneaking in at night or parking in front of their houses.

  • Michael Cashman I keep reading it is an ownership issue. Is it no one knows who splits the proceeds from all the "Aloha for sale"? It's simple, I don't want to step on someones flowers, nore wake sleeping kids at night. I just want to taste a few pure things in life. I believe climbing these stairs and enjoying the mountain/sea myst and sunshine along with the views is what little nature my generation has left to appreciate.
