I purchased my home in 2008 with dreams to have a stable home to raise my four children. Instead since the day of dedication I have been in a nightmare. I had my home broken into prior to signing my deed and did not get informed until I called and asked where were the things left in my home at my dedication. At that time I was told by the staff that since the home had not yet been signed for they had no duty to report to me. I was upset, however tried to maintain a good attitude because I was excited about my new home purchase. Once I moved in the home I have had problems with flooding every year and problems with habitat responding to my requests. Three years later I am still coming to a brick wall and them now using a one year agreement as a guard to not be responsible. I have submitted complaints to the Better Business Bureau were they ignored my request and since I am low income I do not have the proper resources to fight them. I have contacted the city in the past, in which they did come to do repairs but shortly after the same problems persisted. I have no more words for Habitat, and I know that this has been there history, to push off naive first time homeowners , like myself, to the side until the year is up then only to respond and say your warranty is over. I would except that if the complaints were new. However, I have had these same problems since I moved in and I will not lay down until I get results. I am paying for a two level home with two bathrooms and five bedrooms to be confined to sleep on the front room floor. I am very disappointed with their business, and I know that this cannot be acceptable.
