We the people of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Allen County Indiana, the State of Indiana and the United States of America hereby request the lawmakers of this City, County, State and Country to examine the existing laws of gun control and pursue greater control in order to protect innocent children and innocent citizens from harm or death from violent acts such as the recent incident in the State of Connecticut on December 14, 2001 in which a single individual took the lives of 20 children and 6 adults by shooting them with legally purchased firearms. This senseless act of violence is not acceptable and in our opinion avoidable. It is the responsibility of elected officials of this City of Fort Wayne, County of Allen, State of Indiana and Country of the United States of America to examine the current gun control laws and institute changes to protect our innocent children and prevent any further such incidents from occurring. We the people, by the people and for the people call upon the President of the United States and our government, the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch, to come together and examine any and all ways possible to enact laws to protect our children and innocent citizens form such evil acts of violence. We the people have voted and placed you, the government, to act on our behalf to protect us in this democratic society and you are now being called upon to do just that.
