* The letter below pertaining to the questionable transactions and policies of the GSIS is addressed to President Noynoy Aquino. We are hoping to garner more signatures so that immediate action may be taken by the government and the current GSIS administration to address these issues that have been wrought by the former Winston Garcia Board upon the pensioners. * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear President Aquino, WE, concerned GSIS Pensioners, are relieved for your having appointed new members of the Board of Trustees of GSIS, as replacement of the previous ones headed by that arrogant President and General Manager Winston Garcia. During his stewardship, questionable transactions/policies were made which are inimical and detrimental to members and pensions, some of which are: 1. Prior to Garcia's term, it was GSIS policy to increase/adjust every year the monthly pension of its pensioners by 10%. However, when Garcia took over, the increase decelerated, viz: 5% in 2004, 3% in 2006, 2% in 2009 and 1.5% for this year. It is our understanding that the increase of pension is based on the average of the yearly inflation rate. In the spirit of the coming birthday of Jesus Christ, we earnestly seek your help in relaying to the new GM/Pres. Mr. Robert Vergara and Board Chairman Mr. Daniel Lacson to RESTORE THE 10% YEARLY INCREASE of our pension. 2. The arbitrary change in paying of pensioners' monthly pension from the first day of the month to the 8th was done without consulting us pensioners. Most of us are used to receiving our pension on the first day of the month and that most bills are normally paid at the end of the month otherwise you get penalized for late payments. Accordingly, may we request for your help for GSIS through its new GM/President to revert back to the FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH the payment of our pension. Thank you for your help.
