| 141 | John McClelland | The scales of justice have tipped too far in favour of the criminal class, particularly violent offenders. It's long past time that law abiding citizens' right to defend themselves, their families and their property was re-established- along with the most effective means of doing so. |
| 142 | Thomas Goldstein | |
| 143 | Doug Graham | Law abiding citizens ought to be armed to preserve the peace and resist criminal attack. |
| 144 | Dr Lech Beltowski | I'd rephrase this as a petition to simply regain the right to self-defence and defence of property our grandparents once took for granted.
They believed, quite rationally that no govt would be stupid enough to cause society to self destruct through excessive control and high crime and that a desire for control over the citizen would always be tempered by reality.
Unfortunately, they had not counted on the irrational beliefs of socialist intellectuals and of power-hungry politicians prepared to do exactly that.
The passage of criminal friendly laws (such as gun control laws) that effectively disarm victims for the benefit of criminals and governments need to be seen as the cause of much of the rise in violent crime in the UK.
When you next read an article that in effect says 'in spite of the toughest gun laws in the world, violent crime (including gun crime)in the UK is rapidly escalating" you need to point out that in reality, violent crime is escalating BECAUSE of the gun laws, not in spite of them.
Our grandparents understood this, understood that weapons and violence are two totally seperate issues and as a result they had a safe and essentially crime free society. |
