Comments: excellent idea not only does it help people on the allotment waiting list but will enhance un-used land and may be people will begin to take pride in the area where they live.

Comments: Me and my family have been waiting 2 years for an allotment. The council appear unintersted in this fact, as I have been advised that it is likely that I will be waiting a further 2 years for an allotment in my area. Good luck with the campaign, Darren

Comments: Most of the plots in my area are overgrown and unused, the ones that are in use have a long waiting list or it years to get one of these plots as they are so sought after. Currently I've been on a waiting list for over a year now & no sign of getting an allotment soon due to a number of other people already on the waiting list prior to mine. I have three young children who would love help mum and dad grow their own healthy fruit & veg.

Comments: This is obviously an excellent community cohesion project that is necessary to improve the current social climate in Wakefield. I believe the development of community growing areas will provide many opportunities for all ages and walks of the social spectrum. The opportunity to learn about food production, work with members of the community, sharing knowledge and ideas will inspire minds to consider the sustainability of our future on earth. This project should be supported the local authority.

Comments: Excellent idea. I'm one of the lucky ones with an allotment, but would love to see underutilised land in the area being used to grow edibles. Hope to see the word spreading!

Comments: Its a brilliant idea - bringing communities and skills together. No amount of money can create such a strong connection with people such working together for a common goal that encourages sharing and giving. I urge the council in this time of spending cuts to use this opportunity to create a opportunities for people to learn new skills and save money.

Comments: I am passionate about people having the right and the opportunity to grow their own food. I'm lucky enough to have a garden I can get started in but I have a number of friends in flats or in terraced houses who have no option but to wait for an available allotment. With the waiting list as long as it is that really can't be seen as an acceptable option. Community growing licenses would solve so much hassle for those people who are eager to save money, eat properly, live a more active life and help the environment. Not only that, the council would clearly benefit as well, not least from the income generated & the improvement of overgrown plots of land! It seems almost ridiculous that this scheme isn't already in place!!
