Petition To:
Town of Markham's Traffic Safety Committee (TSC), Ward 5 Councillor John Webster and Domenic Smarrelli, C.E.T. Supervisor, Traffic Operations
Engineering Department

We, the residents of the Greensborough subdivision within the Town of Markham are gravely concerned about the serious and persistent problem of speeding, street racing, aggressive driving behaviour and the continual failure of motorists to stop at the 4 way stop signs at the intersection of Alfred Paterson Drive and Bur Oak Avenue near Greensborough Public School.

Given the excessive speeding that takes place within these 40km / hour school zones and where there has been a history of collisions on the street, the volume of traffic and the close proximity to several schools, parks, stretch of sidewalks and residential frontage, we respectfully insist that The Town of Markham immediately initiate Markham's "Safe Streets program" this year in order to improve road safety on Alfred Paterson Drive and Bur Oak Avenue by improving driver behaviour with the 3-point strategy of Education, Enforcement and Engineering.

If something is not done to correct this problem, we the undersigned promise that this will become a major and pivotal issue in the next municipal election when our vote will really matter we will reflect on the record of what has either been accomplished or not accomplished in this regard.

Respectfully,
