The purpose of this petition is to give the people of Iran the vote they deserve.
The purpose of this petition is to make sure the world knows us, the unspoken masses, stand behind the Iranians who are currently being silenced in their very own streets.
In the age of Twitter, Facebook, and Flickr the masses can assume a power of change that was previously unimaginable.
Yes, this is just an online E-Petition with no serious geopolitical weight behind it, but with every signature we get we hopefully can inch by inch, we can bolster the spirit and determination of the people of Iran who are currently fighting for their freedom.
We cannot simply sit back, shake our heads, turn to the person next to us and mutter something about 'how terrible it all is'.
In Iranian homes, college campuses, cafes, and streets decades of oppression has finally boiled over. This is our chance to show that us, the privileged, internet-savvy masses, will stand in support of the Iranian moderates in their courageous quest for democracy, civil liberty, and peace.
To be honest, I do not know where this one act of solidarity with the moderates in Iran will lead, if anywhere. But we must start somewhere. Please simply add your name, that is all I ask for.
