Today thousands of married same-sex couples in New York are suffering because of unequal treatment under our immigration laws. United States Constitution guarantees that no class of people will be treated differently, and New York's gays and lesbians should not be excluded from that guarantee. That is why the State of New York should create a new law that will state the equal immigration rights and benefits for both traditional and same-sex couples regardless federal law and the Defense of Marriage Act.
