The present Alabama Grandparents Law needs to be ammended. The Alabama Grandparents law as it is now provides no rights for Grandparents or Great Grandparents. It is urgent that we have this law changed to give all grandparents rights and legal standing where their grandchildren are concerned. We have just had a horrific case of abuse and the murder of 5 year old Natalie and 3 year old Chase DeBlase in Alabama. If the Alabama Grandparents' Law had provided provision for grandparent intervention, this case might have had a much different outcome. These two children might be sharing Christmas with their grandparents.
I ask for your help in keeping children safe in our state and assuring that grandparents have legal recourse on their behalf.
