SteveCookeGBI am currently caring for my 2 young grandchildren following the sudden death of my daughter, my wife has given up 2 part time jobs in order to care for these children. We have since been told by SS that we will receive no financial backing for these children.

darrenmossi live in chorley england we have friends who are grandparants and who also look after the grandchild they make great parants as they have already done it once in there lives!
JacquieWilkinsonGBI have special guardianship of my 3 year old twin granddaughters. I had to fight Social Services through court to gain custody of them, although the Social Worker assigned to the case was 100% behind me, which in turn kept me going. I believe that the campaign for payment for grandparents is worthy cause.
AnonymousAnonymousGBI am about to take early retirement so as to allow my daughter to return to her role as full time police officer, whilst I help to care for my new 9 month old grandson. A Childminding allowance should be made available to grandparents in this situation, as my income will dramatically fall on retirement. By taking early retirement I lose about 30% of my pension rights from the NHS job I have held for 20 years.

maryreeveNVGBi live in discuting poverty i am bringing up my grandson politisions should be ashamed of themselves i go hungrey to make shure he has enought to eat as for clothes i were rags how is this helping child poverty
SusanStringerGBthe grandparents do not have the same rights and access to services as parents and when you seek advice from social services they only want to know if you no longer wish to keep the child/children, hence this means a lot of cost, which we are still having to pay and this is not, surely, in the childs interest.

DeeAolanJiGBWe are an unusual group of grandparents and need support from society while we raise the second generation of children, who have often been damaged by their feckless, reckless parents.
JuliePeakeDEGBMy husband and myself have been looking after two of our grandchildren for nearly ten years and we have never received anything extra except child allowance, Ithink we should be paid the same money as foster parents
CarolynWestonGBOur lives are not our own anymore, It would be nice to be acknowledged.
