    Comments: I have cared for and mostly supported my 3 grandchildren for the last 4 yrs, always careful not to make their parents mad because when I did they would keep the kids away from us for awhile. My youngest son is acused of molesting my grandaaughter, when we found out I turned him in, he is in jail, my other son and his girlfriend took our grandchildren to orlando were my sons biological father lives, who is believed to be the one who abused my youngest son, who is in jail, we have not been allowed to talk to or to see them in almost 3 months, I have never gone this long without seeing them before, I hope and pray that everything is alright with them. I want to help in any way I can to get more grandparents rights, it is just not right that we can care for them and then have them ripped from us.

    Comments: One year in a half ago my daughter in law ran to florida to avoid my petition regarding my right's as a grandparent. I have not seen my granddaughter ever since. I had weekend calls with the baby but as of this Jan 05, the mother has not been in contact with me. I fear for my granddaughter safty, but the courts don't want to hear that. I constantly pray for the baby and hope that she is in safe hands.

They live two blocks a way and he very seldom returns my calls I don't want to interfere with him raising the child but I am his grandmother and I want to be a part of my grandsons life. Bryanna has a wonderful relationship w/ her grandma and it's sad to see that taken away. My sister is currently neglecting Bryanna, but still would rather anyone keep her but my mom and there is little she can do about it! Surely, Grandma is better than some stranger...

    Comments: I live in the state of Florida. I am apalled that grandparents do not have rights concerning the welfare and care of their grandchildren! What happens to that child if the parents are abusive or neglect that child Who will protect the children. Is it right to take these children and place them in foster homes when they have loving grandparents who will take and raise them. Also, what happens if that parent's father or mother is married to an individual who is abusive to that child and the parent does nothing to help his/her child It's time that the children had a voice in what happens to them and can chose the safety of their loving grandparents!!!!! You people in office need to listen for once!

    Comments: I fully Agree! I am in a situation right now. My sister has beed classified as an unfit mother. My Aunt has temp custody, but is kicking my sister out and doesn't want any custody anynmore (too much Drama). My mom and dad (GRANDPARENTS) have provided everything they could and my sister still is an alcoholic and has not had a job for longer then 3 days, in 3 years. We have been there and taken care of my niece since she was born. (I deleverd her and cut the umbilical cord) We are so attached and love that child so much it HURTS knowing she is going to foster care. Foster care shouldn't be an option if there are 3 AUNTS 3 Uncles, Grandparents and COUSINS!!!! The government is doing the wrong thing. And they say there are so many homeless people and missing children... well.. give them a safe home, Love, protection (ONLY FAMILY CAN DO THAT)DONT LET STRANGERS RAISE THE CHILDREN!!!! In Florida (Where are all the missing children that are supposed to be in FOSTER CARE) Missing!! because they dont care.. they are foster parents to make a few extra bucks$$ and a tax write off!!     Comments: We took care of our grandchildren for one year then DCD turned them over to the non offending father who does not work and has been arrested for drugs. A known dealer and with the help of a crooked lawyer our visitations have been given away to my daughter who is one communioty control and just out of rehab. We have never been in trouble, and GAL was on our side but DCF took them away. Something is wrong with our system when drug growers can keep there kids and good christian grandparents are not given visitation rights.

My daughter has the youngest one. It would be nice to be able to visit and talk without having their dad around constantly.

    Comments: I am for grandparent rights We raised our granddaughter for the past year and half she will be 3 in Oct. the welfare placed her back in the home with the parents who are both deadbeat parents (hate to say that about my son) now they will not let us see her until we fight for grandparent rights, (the other morning we got a phone call from a friend they found my granddaughter in the middle of the street 7 blocks from home lost and terrified police came she was sent back home CFS was called but they said it was a misunderstanding with the parents. mind you this is 3:30AM. I am afraid one of these days she is going to really be hurt or never found again before we get to see her.

He is being abused by his step-father and the courts and welfare system has been no help at all.Shame on you Florida for abandoning these children to such abuse and then when the worst happens you say you didn't know.Shame,Shame,shame! The voters of Florida you throw Bush out.Any state that denies Grandparents their rights had better beware.They may be grandparents someday and be faced with a situation like so many others who have no voice.Thank God I live in a State that recognizes us.
