Name: Allyana Wiviott on Apr 4, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: what this is aweful! i live in the del mar area (up avenida miraflores) all my life. I always watch the parade from my deck, every year, the convertables, i have forever looked forward to riding in one and being the "big 8th grader" finally i get my chance and the new principal decides to change it. if it's because it's a safety hazard it's not. i can say that with many kids, adults, and even teachers backing me up all across marin. they have been doing this for years. please don't change the tradition that our siblings, parents, aunts, and even uncles have gone through just because of some silly reasoning that could crush the hopes of 8th graders at del mar. and how did i not know about this when were you planning to tell us that the forever tradition of del mar 8th graders since the 80's was about to be destroyedFlag

Name: Becky Cannon on Apr 4, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: This is one of the few traditions that we have for our town and eliminating it destroys one of the few things that we have holding our town together. Our sense of community in this town is very fragile and this could tear it apart.Flag

Name: Caroline C on Apr 4, 2005State:Country:Comments: I think that the parade is a tradition that has been carried out for many years of Del Mar graduations, and why does it have to stop now I can't even understand why people are even trying to get it taken away!! This is just another thing that we are being ripped off of. For some examples: EVERYONE in the year book gets colored pictures, it is supposed to be an 8th grade thing! And the snack bar being taken away, that stinks!!Flag

This is tradition, and it's not fair to take away an event that students have been waiting three years to take part in!Flag
