Comments: I used to work as an Advocate for the local domestic violence shelter. I worked day and night with police, hospitals and the court system to help provide options and safety to victims/survivors of family violence. The court systems drastically and repeatedly fails victims. I support your initiative

Comments: I to am a victim of domestic violence and beleive that it is totally wrong that for me and my children to get out of this enviroment. We will be forced into poverty and on the legal system, due to the crime committed against us. My abusive spouse should be held fully responsible for all of our joint obligations, and should be court ordered to help us finacially keep the lifestyle we could afford with his wages too.

Comments: i think that it is a wonderful thing that you are trying to do. Too often victims are expected to continue with their life as they did before without seeking the proper medical attention and therapy that they need. paying to restore your life again is like paying for the crime. Make the offenders pay to mend what they broke.

Comments: my oldest sister was recently assaulted by a neighborand as a result, she has suffered a fractured wrist. My sister has had several operations on her spine, neck, and left arm. Over the years, she has lost most use of her left arm and depended on her right arm in her active daily living functions. My sister is unable to work and often has to depend on another one of our sister or her husband to assist her getting dressed. Now my sister physician has explained to her that as a result of the assualt, she may lose use of her righr arm.My sister,a 54 yrs. old was sitting with her two grandsons while the parents were out shopping. While outside watching the younger child, the womaan who later attacked my sister, proceeded to walk into the middle of the street where she began making threats about killing the grandchildren two small dogs and saying bad things about their mother. My sister made the "Big mistake by asking the woman not to be saying such horriable things in front and added that the the children father was planning to repair the dog fence whenever he returned home.It was during this time that the woman attacked my sister and during the attack, the woman husband and 17 yrs. old son ran out of the house holding what appeared tobe knives in their hands, yelling "kill her, kill her. It was through the grace of God that my sister's husband was at the kitchen window and saw what took place and ran outand rescued my sisterbefore somethin worse coukld have happen to her.I would like to begin by explaining that the woman and her family has upon several occassions, tried to convince my neice, which is my sister's daughter and her husband to sell their property to the woman's brother. Since my neice and her husband refused to sell their property, the neighbors are constantly causing problems with them. What has happen to my sister has been very traumatic and as a result, she is constantly having nightmares.
