GPN + CMF = OMG
The Cambridge Music Festival is approaching its 3rd installment in the summer of 2013. In May 2011, a friend of mine and I were discussing Vermont-based Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ new music festival (Grand Point North) that they were headlining on the Burlington Waterfront in conjunction with the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival that August. My friend mentioned that we need to do something similar to that this summer in town. At first I just nodded and agreed but then it hit me - she had a brilliant idea. CMF was established as a benefit concert for an organization called Cambridge 360 which raises funds towards a much-needed community center. The inaugural event was held in August 2011, with the follow-up happening in July 2012. The events have garnered state-wide press and media attention, with such Vermont and New England acts as Josh Panda Band, The Aerolites, Citizen Bare, Starline Rhythm Boys, Myra Flynn, and many more. In 2012, Phish bassist Mike Gordon attended CMF. In January 2013, Grace Potter was quoted in Billboard Magazine saying, "I'd like to get back to a few of those smaller festivals that we started out doing. I miss that element of complete debauchery and the camping and going out and hanging out. I miss my friends in the jam world, so maybe we'll do some of that." Well, why not invite GPN to CMF and take them up on the offer of complete debauchery. We need your help - please sign this online petition to show your support of GPN coming to CMF to play for an amazing cause. GPN + CMF = OMG!
