In four short years John York has turned a once-storied 49er franchise into a laughingstock. Candlestick Park used to be where Joe Montana, Bill Walsh, Ronnie Lott and Jerry Rice made history and made other teams look silly. Now, the 49ers are lucky to eke out a win here and there. Last year the 49ers finished 7-9 and out of the playoffs. This year they will be lucky if they approach that record.
General Manager Terry Donahue (he should probably go also) admits that the 49ers are in "salary-cap hell" and will need time to get out of this mess. Odd, but that is exactly the same thing he said three years ago?
The 49ers now say they are "looking" towards 2006. Small comfort for fans who must watch the team this year and next. Even smaller comfort when fans look at the horrible track-record of the 49er administration in the past four years.
John York must go! |
