Governor McDonnell's proposed budget which would result in the need for an additional $1,259,513.00 to be added to Scott County School System's stretched budget. This proposed mandate would result in each employee having to pay up to 5% of their VRS. This would be devastating to our employees. Four years without a pay raise has put many families in hardship. This would make our already low incomes even more difficult to deal with. We have a wonderful school system but taking funding away from our children's education is not an acceptable way to deal with balancing the budget. Our educational system should come first and be the last to suffer when the budget is considered. We are asking that you consider what this will do to the employees of Scott County School System as well as our children.
