Dear Governor LePage, Maine is one of few states left that does not allow hunting on Sundays. For many reasons, I nor a lot of other hunters understand or agree with this law. Land owners should have a right to be able to hunt on their land during hunting season, 7 days a week if they want, it is their land. A lot of people work Mon-Fri, so that leaves one day a week they can hunt. Childern are in school all week, and a lot of sports on Saturday so they cannot get into the woods to learn how to hunt. The revenue the State loses because hunters go elsewhere to hunt on Sunday's or for the whole weekend. I respect and abide by the laws of hunting and have the utmost respect for land owners who allow us hunters to be able to hunt on their land as do other hunters, but feel this no hunting on Sunday law should be looked at again. If land owners do not want hunting on their land on Sundays, they could post no hunting on Sunday's. If this law is in effect because people want to be out in the woods on Sunday's with their families, make certain low populated areas available for Sunday hunting. There seems in my mind to be a lot of simple solutions to this, instead of just no all the way around. I know this law has been challenged in the past a few times, but once again, we hunters are asking you to amend this law. There has to be a solution so all parties involved are satisfied. Respectfully Submitted, Maine Hunters
