Name: Joan LoCurto on Apr 3, 2003Comments: Please do the right thing for our children. Prekindergarten in the city is a necessity. Our parents don't have the resources to send their children to play groups, nursery school swimning lessons and ballet! The PreK classroom, teaches these children letters, numbers, shapes and colors. My students started school not even able to recognize a 1, 2 or 3! Do the right thing, let the wealthiest pay a temporary emergency slightly raised income tax!Flag

Name: Helene Kramer on Apr 5, 2003Comments: Education is supposed to be the great leveler in a democratic society. We appreciate the State's support of the Buffalo Public Schools through the years. Please help us to give city kids a chance to become producive citizens by restoring the Governor's proposed cuts, especially those that drive the need to cut pre-K programs and extra help programs. Eliminate or fund the unfunded mandates which squeeze the juice out of other worthwhile school initiatives.Flag

Name: Mary Mayrick on Apr 21, 2003Comments: I am saddened that in voting for you I have contributed to the widening of the gap between the rich and the poor. It is clear that cutting the very funding that has begun to narrow the education gap between richer and disadvantaged districts are a means to prevent poorer individuals equal access to high quality education. Shame on you Mr. Pataki. When will we as a state begin to see that we can invest now or spend more later to deal with the devastating results of people with no hope, connection or sense of value You take away hope for the future with these cuts. How do you sleep at nightFlag
