Name: Jeannie Lit-Woo on Mar 15, 2003Comments: Please do not cut education funding for pre-k. My son desperately needs this program. He is looking forward to school since he was 3 yrs. old. However, I am a single mother of 2 children and cannot afford private pre-k school for him. Please do not make my son wait another year.Flag

Local property tax owners cannot bear the cost of this type of tax cut. Our Children are the BEST investment for a bright future. Children deserve better.Flag

What you have done with your budget not only decimates public education, you have raised my property taxes for schools close to 30%. Frankly I would rather see less in my paycheck than have you take away 5% of our state aid for Owego Apalachin. You seem to have found plenty of funding for pork barrel projects such as sports halls of fame. Shame on you for punishing the children of New York.Flag

Name: Bonnie Bredes on Mar 21, 2003Comments: The future of tomorrow depends on the children of today receiving an excellent education. Removing money from education goes against the "No child left behind" progam. It's time the wealthy and the corporations of this state pay their fair share of the tax burden. Our children's education is too precious to put aside.Flag

Name: Artemis Schwebel on Mar 21, 2003Comments: I am the parent of a 4 year old girl. it truly scares me that she has to go through what she has been going through this year, if she will not go to school as she has been promised next year. She needs preK and it will affect her life in ways that it would traumatize her and her future. As a parent I am deeply concerned and while not an expert I believe that there can be another way of finding funds for such an important progam without just cutting away the funds that support this pre-K program. Thank you.Flag

Name: Annmarie Ieraci on Apr 1, 2003Comments: given the competitive environment, i believe parents would happily pay a fee to send 4 year olds to public pre-k. It is absolutely ruthless to cut the program at this late point in time - there would be no other alternative for numerous hard working families, private schools have already closed out their programs for '03.Flag

Name: Margaret Cordi on Apr 2, 2003Comments: The proposed elimination of public pre-k is an OUTRAGE that punishes the children of those who are morally and/or financially opposed to private school for 4-year-olds. We're talking about an extremely necessary public service, and to cut it would be to demonstrate that the governor is unable to prioritize properly, that he doesn't understand the needs of his constituents, and that he is inexplicably unable to find a socially and morally acceptable alternative, such as ensuring that state-based corporations are paying their due. The kids are not able to vote, but their parents are.Flag
