1 Lily AldenI feel that we should have been included in this life and death decision. I think the hunt should be put on hold while we explore all alternatives.

9 Aliza RosenI've said this before, but I'll say it again: I am ashamed right now to be a part of the Goucher community. How can the administration get so anxious about the Humans vs. Zombies game, which uses fake, foam darts, and plastic, fake guns, but not about bringing real weapons onto what is otherwise a peaceful campus for the intentional slaughter of innocent animals? A campus discussion was organized for so many things, but not for this, which is a decision that was made months ago. Seriously, I thought we were better than this.

19 AnonymousBesides being completely immmoral, killing deer via poisons or hunting is ineffective. It will not work. Sure, you're thinking that you'll lower their numbers but then the remaining deer will mate and produce still more deer. The smartest solution is to shoot the deer with BIRTH CONTROL. Then they will stop having babies and we only have to deal with the remaining herds instead of the herds AND whatever new deer are produced. The deer are a part of the beauty of Goucher. For me, deer were always a source of whimsy and I'm fascinated by them. I love encountering deer while walking leisurely along the nature trails or seeing them late at night in the fields and grazing by the chapel. Seeing them calms me down and brings me some relief from the stress of my classes. Maybe it's the continuity of the deer innocently going about their business eating grass. Maybe it's the idea that they are a beautiful and important part of wildlife. I hope that future Goucher College students are fortunate enough to experience seeing the deer on campus and feeling that simple joy.

24 Patrick OffenheiserAfter reading the counter-arguments to the argument for lethal action I find myself questioning a great deal of what I had been told thus far regarding the hunt. When I learned that in fact there will potentially be an even larger generation of deer following the one we currently have as a biological of the proposed hunt I found myself doubting the motives and effectiveness for the school's proposed course of action. I feel there is an apology owed and a great deal of explaining to be done in light of this and othe new information.
25 Brittany ParkerI understand the concern with the growing deer population, however I believe that there are more humane ways to do this.
26 AnonymousIt's deplorable that Goucher is considering bringing in hunters to annihilate the deer population. It doesn't matter if it's 'a slight decrease' or the whole group, any blood shed on Goucher's campus will move against everything I have come to believe this school stands for. Shame on you.
