The following message was posted on Facebook on June 18, 2011: 

"Really disgusted with my neighbors today who left home after work yesterday and and never came home last night. They left their new puppy chained (as usual) outside with no food, minimal water and zero shelter. She's soaking wet, cold, and begging for someone to rescue her from the storms still this morning."

My friend went out in the storm and took the dog to the local Humane Society to get it out of the weather.  The owner came to the Humane Society within a few hours and reclaimed the dog.  She received counseling was NOT charged a return to owner fee. 

My friend has now been charged with (1) Theft by Unlawful Taking  and (2) Trespassing. 

I am outraged that the Commonwealth Attorney would pursue charges against someone for helping an animal instead of prosecuting the owner that left the animal in these conditions.   We must stand up for animals and stop this from happening.
