Name: Barry Russell on May 17, 2008Comments: Everyone makes mistakes in their youth and it is fantastic that the courts aren't going to hold this against him. Speaking as a door steward and on behalf of fellow door stewards who have worked/liaised with Paul we all hope that the internal inquiry isn't too harsh. This is a top cop. Keep him on the streets of Inverness.Flag

Name: Y&D Ross on May 17, 2008Comments: "Fraud" This is a trumped up charge on the back of an orchestrated witch hunt! The fact that Northern state that if Paul had declared his historical dishonesty at the time of application he would not have been offered an appointment, is staggering. Most police forces openly advertise that every application is considered on its own merit. It's good to be non-judgemental and isn't that what the police are supposed to be How many others in the history of the CPS have been paraded before the court for failing to declare some misdemeanour in their application form It's a nonsense. Looking at it from a different angle, there are obvious failings in Northerns Vetting system. It just so happens that Paul's motivations for gravitating towards a career in law and order were completely wholesome. It is he who has highlighted the shortcomings in the vetting procedure and as a result he has been hung out to dry. So much for transparency. Paul was man enough to highlight his past mistakes. Northern kept him at work, investigating serious crime and travelling the country to conduct enquiry as a representative of Northern Constabulary. A full seven months following his disclosure he is suspended! This has to be a stitch up. I think it's time Northern looked much closer to home and consider the unenviable task of thorough vetting to one and all, future, past and present. A good man has simultaneously highlighted his own historical shortcomings and that of Northern, but the force don't want to deal with the bigger issue, after all, Paul is only one man.Flag

Name: Gary Brown on May 17, 2008Comments: Its more people like Mr Geddes that us local business men want to see in the Force, it would be a disgrace if someone with his work ethic was dismissed over some mistake he made in his youth. Hopefully the powers to be will see sense and reinstate him as soon as possible and put an end to this farceFlag

He is a true professional and has succeeded in evrything he has set out to do in his life since i have met him. The Highlands police force cannot afford to lose such a asset.Flag

I have no reservations in supporting the effort to reinstate Paul as it would be a sad loss not only to the Northern Constabulary but more importantly to the public he serves onreservedly.Flag

Name: K.Degnan on May 18, 2008Comments: We all have a past which we might not be proud of but to be punished throughout one's life time for something which occurred in one's teenage day's is deplorable, especially when the punishment at the time had been done, bearing in mind it was Millitary and not a Civillian case.Everyone learns from their mistakes and makes you a better person in which Constable Paul Geddes most certainly is.He should be put back on the streets of Inverness helping to keep them safe where he belongs and serving the Community in a job which he was dedicated to.Paul is a gentle giant who is respected by all and I hope that others have the same common sense as the Sheriff and get him back in uniform A.S.A.P.Flag
