George KishI rely on the GO for reliable and prompt service. Although weather conditions can hamper the overall efficiency of the system, I am left with the impression that GO Transit does not do enough to ensure the timeliness of their scheduled trains. The Eastbound 7:58 AM express train from Oakville is an obvious example. This train is late to depart and on at least several occasions already this year has not shown up at all. On Thursday, February 7th I arrived at the Oakville station to find that my paid parking spot had not been cleared of snow - almost 2 feet of snow in my spot. The train arrived 20 minutes late and was 1 hour late arriving in Toronto. On my trip home, the 17:43 PM train was 45 minutes late arriving into Oakville. How is it that other countries (Scandanavian for example) can run efficient public transit systems in environmental conditions that are much more frigid than our own?

AnonymousThere needs to be some accountability for these issues as well as the creation of sound contingnecy plans when there are mechanical, environmental, and accident occurences.

cherryl SoffieNeed more train trips on the Stoufville line and more cars on each train trip. From the time i have started taking GO, i have never got a seat on the train in the mornings and that is pathetic, especially when you are pregnant and no one has the courtesy to offer you a seat.
Carol ChurchI agree with 2 of the 3 points. I don't agree with 50% rebate as it's not practical and will ruin the credibility of the petition. I think there definitely should be better notifications. I'm on the email alerts and sometimes alerts never come or they come in too long after the fact to make alternative arrangements. Agree that more cars are needed. GO knows this and they are constructing longer platforms to accomodate more cars. GO published a great brochure explaining their service disruption causes. I encourage everyone to read it!!

PaulIt seems that in today’s society we’re constantly being encouraged to use alternatives to driving however there doesn’t seem to be any reasonable alternatives. Unless of course you enjoy arriving to work late every morning.

Ryan BanksI, too, agree with two of the points (same as Carol Church above) however, come March, more cars and faster engines will be implemented on the Lakeshore lines, as far as the news tells me.

AnonymousI wonder if any of you take GO transit on a regular basis? I suspect you don't because if you did you would realize how unacceptable reliability levels are and do something about it.
AnonymousThe overcrowding is a huge issue. I stand up almost 100% of the time when I'm riding an express train during the rush schedule. This is a newer problem, but it is chronic. Until 2 years ago, seating was more readily available. Obviously, usage is on the rise.
M. ReidCurrent service is very frustrating
Tariq KhanI feel go is running out of excuses of trains being late and cancelled. For the kind of service we are getting, it does not justify Go Transit to increase the fare year after year. Passangers should be compersated for the bad service.
AnonymousIt’s ironic that transit in other countries which experience a colder climate and have more snowfall annually, such as Switzerland, manage to run a timely and “dependable” transit service for less cost. The VPs at GO Transit should consider going to visit Switzerland for a week to learn a few things from the VPs at RAILEurope. Go Transit obviously has lots to learn and needs to get their act together!
AnonymousI just wish that the Go was given more funding so that they can make the chnages necessary to improve service. I am sure if they had the means to make passenger rides smoother they would. But mind you in the morning when you are late it does tend to get quite annoying. But overall it beats drving so I can live with some delays for the time being.
AnonymousFeb 12 - 729am train from Bronte cancelled, 739am train packed like sardines - 100's of people left on platform. This is the 8th trip in four days that the train has been late or cancelled - switch problems, engine problems ect. This is a terrible service for a supposed "world class city", Union is a decrepid, design mess - escalators broken for MONTHS, bottlenecks everywhere. An unbelievable display of management incompetence!!!

Jeff LakeGO executives should travel to Switzerland and see how they can operate trains on time every day during severe winter conditions.
AnonymousI would like to add that it is deplorable that GO transit does not have a student rate or under 18 rate to encourage the youth to use public transit full time especially in these environmentally sensitive times. Your student rate is only for those students who use it to go to school, how about students who work in the city in the summer etc, they don't make great salaries and aren't encourage to take transit????
AnonymousThe service has been very unreliable over the past few months. It needs to change.

AnonymousI've noticed a serious decline in quality of service on the Lakeshore East line, which I have been taking for over 8 years now. Regular delays &/or cancellations on a weekly basis, yet they increase fares every year, with no improvement. What am I paying for?
Shelley ForsythI work for a major financial bank. I need to be on time to work.

Anil ParmachandSounds like a fantastic idea.
Lily VargaI am a avid go train user. I use it to get to work every morning to Toronto rather than driving. It makes me quite frustrated especially because I have signed up for the go train e-news, to come directly to my e-mail to notify me of cancellations and delays, which in the end makes no point because i receive the e-mail about five minutes after i am standing at the go train station waiting for the train. It would be nice to be notified sooner of delays and cancellations so I'm not standing in the cold waiting for a train that's not coming! Thank You! It would also be delightful to get money back from my monthly pass when I'm getting to work late and having to stay late because of no fault of my own!

Sarah HalstedLast week my train got delayed until 1 am, & I got stuck at the station with a bunch of crazed drugged up teenagers that were frightening everyone. Oftentimes I have been late for appointments, classes, meetings, because of delays. The city bus often causes me to miss my train as well, although that is not GO transit's problem.

Melissa WilsonI take the GO to school three days a week and since the new semester started, it's been late more often than it's been on time.

AnonymousPretty poor service lately on Lakeshore line. E-mail notifications are not timely and rendered unreliable. 50% rebate for 20 mins late is not reasonable as they would 'GO' out of business.
