Name: Rose Nedrow on Feb 21, 2010Comments: My son tried to call me on my cell phone, it was the first time he tried. They denied him, turned around and called me to say if you want to hear from him you will have to deposit money with us first. He calls me maybe once a year. This is a rip off. If my Verizon phone had been working we would have talked for 2 minutes and I would been charged by them.Flag

Name: Maria Waggoner on Feb 22, 2010Comments: Don't we get screw enough having to pay for packages threw the prison systems, then on top of that they overcharge for the collect phone calls. Every few seconds they have their message of "this is a collect phone call from what ever prison". We know its a collect phone call and we know where its coming from. I don't need them telling me that every few minuets, that is time cutting into my phone call.Flag

Name: Leslie Kendrick on Feb 22, 2010Comments: This company makes an additional $60.00 minimum from me every month simply to process my payments. The cost to process the payment is more than the price of one phone call, so in essence if I prepay $25.00 on my account, MY account, not the inmates account, MY account, then $5.00 immediately comes off the top for GTL's processing fee. Just multiply that 100's of times over and over again from differing families across the US, this company is making millions and millions off the backs of families that can ill afford it to stay in contact with our loved ones. It is extortion!!!!! Which last I heard was illegal.Flag

Name: Lynnette Frary on Feb 22, 2010Comments: It does seem that GTL charges excessively for collect phone calls, it used to be MCI, it will always be some company contracted with the states. We as family and friends deserve better phone service from our loved ones.Flag

Name: Susan Mortimer on Feb 23, 2010Comments: Enough is enough! Let us not be naive, though, to think that prison administrators and states give a damn about this issue. They are profiting by splitting the proceeds. The companies just re-emerge with new names. Speak up!Flag

Name: Carmen Gauthier on Feb 23, 2010Comments: Red Tail Alliance, a non-profit organization, was treated by GTL representatives rudely. Funds placed into GTL acocunts for a prisoner to call the office "disappeared". Blocks were placed on our office phone lines. GTL is a monopoly which EXPLOITS the family, friends and organizations that serve prisoners. GTL solicits contracts with prisons and pays prisons a portion of GTL earnings. GTL's service equipment is below standard resulting in frequent disconnects which increase the cost of calls. GTL is a greedy, unethical company. It's a parasitic company run by white collar criminals.Flag

Name: Leonna A. Brandao, S.W. III on Feb 23, 2010Comments: I hope the FCC, FTC, Consumer Affair Offices and State & Federal Representatives having the ability to stop this outrageous act of double dipping into the pockets of offenders' families' pocket, will STOP this once and for all. The Penal System has already made it clear, by their actions, that the families of prisoners, are no better than their loved ones. When in fact, there is a multitude of families of prisoners, who have more compassion and concern for their loved ones, as well as others, within and outside the prison system. Now, I pray that FCC, FTC, Consumer Affair Offices, and State & Federal Representatives, will demonstrate the same compassion and concern, in this plea to do something about MCI/Global Tel LinkFlag
