Stacie Evans | I think that smaller class sizes here in Utah is of utmost importance! It would benefit both the student and the teacher.
jamille Sanford | It is very important that class size be small. We have a highly ESL school and when the teachers have fewer students they are able to give more time to help these students learn. When classes are too big the teacher only has time to concentrate on the troublemakers. I think if the classes are smaller the case of troublemakers will decrease too.

Lynn Marie Stallard | Class size reduction is vital to our childrens education here in Utah!
Tiffany Parkin | My daughter's first grade class had 30 students in it at the beginning of that year! It only decreased to about 27 by the end of the school year. At a maximum, she should have really only had 23 students in her class as a first grade student. This is terrible! It is difficult for the students, difficult for the teachers, and not the image we want for Utah Public Schools. The image we want is that of being among the best of the nation and world! Smaller classroom sizes can help make that happen. I am a firm believer in supporting our public schools, and it is time for public officials to support them as well by making smaller class sizes a priority. Thank you.
Barbara Johnson | I am in favor of reducing class sizes in Utah in order to improve student outcomes in NCLB. I feel that smaller class sizes will allow teachers more time to provide individual students with the attention, accomodations, modifications, or individualized instruction some students need to make adequate yearly progress. Utah news reports frequently highlight the problems with NCLB. I do not want to live in a state that is known for low compliance on NCLB. Why do we want to be known as the state that leaves their children behind?

Marisa Anderson | Our large class sizes make it impossible for teachers to provide the assistance needed to kids who are struggling, or who are accelerated in their learning capacity. Kids with special needs are negatively affected as well as our brightest children.

Cindy Johnson | Kids deserve more individualized attention. Teachers should be paid better so they had more to spread out. I think kids would learn and thrive better and be better prepared to enter the real world.

Anonymous | Yes! Class size is a big issue but not the only one. Like some comments that I have read - the District Employee's are a joke. Why do we have to pay more people to check in to how to resolve problems wihin the education system, when that money could be used to correct some of the problems. Reduce size - YES! But we also need to change HOW we teach children. We have not examined this for generations and our literacy rate is still scarry. Checking out the independent websites to she how many children graduate and are illiterate - 94.2% are illiterate. That is unaccaptable. In order for the good old USA to have a future - we have to take care of the youth TODAY.

Carrol Glade | The number of students assigned to,especially elementary school teachers, is a significant factor in the teacher's ability to adequately instruct and tutor their students. We are directed to individualize our instruction. How can we split ourselves into so many groups and be effectively meeting each student's needs. Lower numbers equals higher success.
Anonymous | Have you ever been in a room for 6 hours with 33 6th graders? Ever seen a teacher with 27 first graders following her down the hall? That alone would make a case for smaller classes. Not to mention the many academic advantages to Utah students.
Anonymous | It would be a great beneifit to all of our students have smaller class sizes.

Krista Fogarty | Our legislators always discuss what an important issue education is for this state and fall short of implementing changes necessary for better public education. Please consider this issue very seriously and know that is top priority for the voting public.
