SAVE GIRLS PREP! Girls Prep is requesting additional space for our high performing middle school in District 1. Girls Prep is the only school in District 1 that has effectively closed the achievement gap for African-American and Latina students. At Girls Prep, where 97% of our students are African-American or Latina, 100% of all students passed NY State Math exam and 96% passed the English Language Arts exam in 2009. In 2009, only 63% of African-American and Latino students in District 1 passed the ELA exam, and only 82% passed the Math Exam. Please show your support for Girls Prep Middle School by signing the petition. Please forward the petition to everyone you know and ask them to support the Girls Prep community and other charter schools in public school space to ensure equal access to a quality education for their children. If charter school opponents win this fight, they won’t stop there! The education of thousands of charter school students in NYC is in jeopardy. Thank you for your support.
