As superintendent and principal of Newcastle Elementary School Dr. Gilligan devoted eleven years to support the education and well-being of the students of Newcastle School, their families and the Newcastle community. Based on his long standing dedication to the children of Newcastle and his tireless efforts to secure the financing for a school gym and community center, I support the petition to name the Newcastle gymnasium: “The Dr. Edward F. Gilligan Gymnasium and Community Center”
