I am a 27 year old woman with four beatiful children. I left their father in 2004 to devote more time to them instead of their father and his needs. I moved into a house and took my kids with me. I lost
the house because it was too expensive. I wanted my kids to be raised in home state, so I moved out of state to relocate us. Doing so, I left my children in their father's care for @ four months, my first
mistake. In this short amount of time, SRS was contacted by his own sister, making allegations that was proven unsubstainated. My second mistake was accepting help from Family Preservation. They made it
sound like they were trying to help us. They put me and my children in an apartment under agreements made by me and their father. I was to be a stay at home mother and their father was supposed to pay our bills. We could not live together, so this agreement was made. He would not have to pay child support and I would not have to pay daycare. Seems simple enough? Everything was going fine, I was told
by my case worker that on my next visit with her I would be released from them, and could move me and my children to my home state. That next visit, came and my children were put in need of care, because of our (as parents)finacial difficulties. Their father and I came to the agreement of placing the kids with their fraternal aunt and uncle. They then took my children in. Three weeks later, we went to court and my children were put in need of care and became children of the state. I moved out of state to try and get set up for my children to come home. Things didn't work as planned so I relocated back to the town that the children live in. Visitation was becoming regular and then me and their aunt started having disagreements. I was following the TFI's "plan" to put the children back in my home. TFI was supposed to help their aunt finacially but they kept giving her the run around to the point where she was completely strapped. They also told her that she could not become foster parents when she could have. Their father's family tried to get me sign over my rights to three different members of his family, but I refused. I guess that was another mistake, but in my heart I don't feel like it was. My children were placed into a foster home, and I was told that they would provide transportation for my visits and that was not provided but two weeks. Their aunt provided 33 gallon trash bags of clothes a peice and a 33 gallon bag of toys. My youngest boy was sent to his fraternal grandmother' s. Upon his arrival, he had four outfits and one toy only. I was told that I couldn't see one without seeing the other three, but their father has. He, my son, is being watched by someone who cannot pass the background check that is required to be around them. I was told that my boys did not want to see me and I seperated myeself from everyone. I only missed one court date, and when I called my lawyer, he told me that they are trying to take my rights away. My children will have been in the system for a year as of Feb. 2007. Is this possible? I have had issues in which I am in the wrong, but these are not concerning enough to take my rights away. What can I do without sucking up to TFI to get my babies back?
