Please support our troops in a meaningful way -- by helping them after they come home. Thanks.

We as a nation should not just talk about supporting the troops, but actually support the troops. McCain says that this bill will cause a decrease in retention by 16%. He leaves out the fact that it will cause a 16% increase in recruitment. Support our troops future by securing them an education to succeed. Thank you.

Do what's right by our troops. We owe them this and much more.

As surely as this nation calls for support for the troops, it is quite obvious that any true substantive support going beyond the traditional flag-waving is to offer a basic compensation for their sacrifices. America has got to learn that supporting the troops means more than purchasing exotic weaponry, but more profoundly means that we offer medical support, counseling, career development, and basic educational opportunities. These are some aspects of the support we offered the World War II generation, and this generation deserves no less. I believe that anything short of this substantive demonstration of patriotism can be none other than misguided jingoism of a hypocritical sort and is not worthy of true American values. Supporting the troops means supporting the troops. Thank you.

The least we can do for the brave men and women who put their lives on the frontline for us is pay for them to complete college.
Several of my close friends and family members depend on their GI Bill in order to pay for their education. They are risking their lives for us, the least we can do is support their educational goals.

Though I am not a supporter of our current policy in Iraq I do believe that our Service Men and Women deserve the best of services and rewards. Your failure to support this bill is an embarassment to our State and our many veterans.

Enough is enough! Support for our troops and their families is not limited to a pat on the back or a pep talk on a forward base. Tell them you're supplying them with the equipment they need in the face of the enemy AND help to advance themselves on beyond their active service. Your vote against the GI Bill was simply inexcusable. No - you may NOT claim to support our service members unless you fully support all their needs. Nor may you expect OUR support in the face of such duplicity. The polls mays show this to be a "safe election," but I know many Alabama Republicans (and Democrats) who have no plans to cast their votes FOR YOU while you vote AGAINST these provisions. "Lock-step" voting does not equate to "locked-in" support for your policies.
Your devotion to gwb and his questionable policies, including this particular vote on the GI bill is indefensible. I'm voting for Vivian Figures and I hope you will be one less partisian over county Senator left in this nightmare that has enveloped our county since the selection of jr as President.

This Bill above all should be passed, shame on you for thinking our Military should settle for anything less.
Please sign this important piece of legislation.

You've told me you don't care what I think - in writing. I hope you care what all the veterans - including my son think. Especially since he's now disabled due to YOUR lying president.

Why don't you support our troups?
Jim Webb is a true patriot and supporter of veterans. This is needed for recruitment.
Supporting the troops means putting your money where your mouth is. This should be a "no brainer".

Do the right thing.

I am a Marine USMC. If you support the troops then, SUPPORT THE GI BILL!!!

I find it to be stunning that you chose to indicate your lack of support of our veterans by voting against the the move for expanded educational benefits. As a veteran, a voting veteran, I take this very personally!

USA must pass ASAP.
Since this bill would attract many new recruits to the armed forces for the improved benefits, what is your real objection to helping veterans?
We asked these people to fight a war that we should never have gotten involved in... and now you don't want them to have extended benefits.... please do the right thing.
Please reconsider your position on the GI Bill. As a disabled Viet Nam veteran, and as a business person now, I know some of the hardship they endure in serving their country. While some of their military experience may count in getting a civilian job, most will require more education to provide a better life for their families. I understand that you oppose entitlement programs, but if our government can't support those that defend it, then who will?
We cannot expect men/women to want to join our Armed Services and we're not willing to take care of them and offer support. Support this bill since you claim to care about our troops. Enough of the hypocrisy, our service men/women deserved better.
Is there any logical reason why you do not support this bill? This is the most ridiculous war in the world, the solders are getting killed left and right and then put in rat infested hospitals that are decades old. I ask rhetorically, is this the best we can do. I look forward to any insight re your reason for not supporting this bill. Thank you kindly.
