Name: Anonymous on Nov 3, 2012Comments: It is my belief that the current regulations pertaining to the take of Giant Pacific Octopus (GPO) are wholly inadequate. I strongly support the establishment of a GPO harvest-free zone in the area surrounding Alki Seacrest Park, and severely limiting--or abolishing--the harvest of GPOs in Washington State. Thank you. Comments: Alki is such a unique place. The creatures here are like no other, and such a high percentage of divers who have had positive encounters with GPOs have done so right on Elliot Bay at Seacrest park. Divers have poured a lot of hard work and effort into maintaining the site. Dives have built boundary lines, secured funding for AEDs, and supported the near by economy. Now the divers are trying to preserve the essence of what makes Cove 2 a wonderful dive site for beginners, and experts. I support this cause, and so should everyone I know!Flag -

Name: Steven Seto on Nov 3, 2012Comments: Please expand the protection "no catch" zone for the Giant Pacific Octopus to include Alki Seacrest Park. I didn't realize that this species is even still in existence. My father grew up in Tacoma, and remembers catching octopus (smaller ones) for food, but by the 1970's, he said they were no longer around. This is amazing, and worth protecting, if this Giant species can still be savedFlag
