    Comments: Dear Ladies and Gentlemen; I work for the local government here in Carroll County, Md. and I am familiar with how things can evolve over time due to convenience or necessity, into something completely different or unexpected. I know that that Gettysburg like my own area of Westminster has limited resources and that use of the McAllisters Mill as a dump site was not at all intended to denigrate hallowed ground. It was probably done over a long time in an effort to provide a useful function for the citizens of Gettysburg. But now we have learned that this site has a historical significance, and in it's own right played a significant role in the events during the Civil War period. It did not happen overnight or with any blatent disregard for history. But I would like to express my sincere interest and respectfully request that Gettysburg consider stopping the use of the site as a dump and begin to plan for how the site might best be used for both the citizens and those who appreciate Gettysburg for its unique place in our nations history.
