Comments: Given the historical signicance of this site this dump should be closed and cleaned up immediately. I am personaly offended at the Town Councils atitude that only Residents views should be heard on this issue.

Comments: Protection of the environment is always of concern, but when an irreplaceable piece of history is endangered at the same time, the matter becomes a double tragedy.

Comments: Preserve McAllister's Mill as well as the grounds where the men of both sides of the Civil War fought and died. Another example of Human indifference to it's own kind as well as nature, mother earth.

Comments: I am writing in support of recent efforts to have the municipal dump removed from the McAllister's Mill site. I am fully cognizant of the Borough of Gettysburg's need for a dump and the attendant backlash that would result in relocating it to another site. However, the present site is totally inappropriate not only due to its Civil War connections but perhaps more importantly its Underground Railroad ties. Perhaps the town can include this site in Main Street Gettysburg efforts to attract more visitors to the downtown area. Combined with the Dobbin House and Lincoln cemetery you might be able to attract more frican-Americans to your beautiful town. This can only have a beneficial effect on the entire tourist industry. Thank you for your efforts in making Gettysburg such an important part of my family's life. MIke Six

Comments: I realize the need for a dump site, and the difficulty of finding an alternate location which will not be objected to by someone or other. Regardless, every effort must be made to remove the dump from the McAllister's Mill area and restore and preserve this historic site.

This site is important both historically and environmentally, and should be protected, preserved, and interpreted for the general public.

Comments: This dump poses two major concerns. 1. The pollution of the Chesapeake bay watershed 2. The desecration of hallowed grounds where our ancestors died defending thier rights. Please consider moving this site to another less damaging location.

Comments: The Gettysburg area and battlefield is NOT an amusement park or Disneyland; it is a National treasure! The McAllister's Mill town dump is a disgrace to the memory of those who operated and used the site as a stop on the Underground Railway. I am surprised and disappointed that the stewards of this hallowed ground are so cavalier and uncaring about our national heritage.
