The bottom line is he's no more in control of what his former players do than is Peter Fields. Perhaps more appropriately, Fields should reinstate his contract with the undersanding that Kramer would be released at the end of the 2007 season.Flag

If the responsibilty for Gatewood's actions are the Coaching staff, then Peter Fields is ultimately responsible too. He need to be fired! Marsha Costello, mcostello@trane.comFlag

Name: Lou Saucedo on May 20, 2007Comments: as a player of Coach Kramer i think its a shame that he is fired.he is a great coach as well as a good person and great mentor.he is a coach and he helps guides many of his players into the right direction.it is not his fault if players who are no longer with the program decide to do things that are wrong.coach always tell us to watch our backs and make right choices.he makes it. a constant reminder.i believe that this program will never be the same.if i had my stuff together and a couple more years to play,i would leave with coach Kramer and follow him where ever he goes.he means that much to me and to many people.NOT just football players, but people.people that hate to see a GOOD man be the one blamed for something he can not control.maybe he shouldnt have recruited those players, but who is to say how they may turn out in the long run.he took chances on those guys and he took chances on current players included myself.he did it to inflect good into the lives on troubled kids.to some lives he has made a great difference and to the others (which is a small amount)they have chosen their own fate.....thats all by me.i love that man and i hope nothing but good goes for him.Flag

Name: Bill Markovich on May 20, 2007Comments: Please reinstate Mike Kramer. His firing appears to be a knee jerk reaction to something out of his control done by an athlete who is now out of the program. He has done a good job for football and for the university. His firing is a travesty and wrong.Flag

Name: Diane Langenfus on May 20, 2007Comments: I am totally disgusted with the decision of Pete Fields and friends to fire our head coach. I think this was a very hastily un-thought out decision. If we are going to be firing folks for the drug problems of FORMER athletic football and basketball players, then we should shake out the can. FIRE FIELDS TOO! ! Wake up folks you have a problem you all need to be working on with Kramer to solve. Why add to the mess by firing Kramer Your throwing the baby out with the bathwater!Flag

Name: Casey Johnston on May 20, 2007Comments: I believe this is the biggest travesty of justice that I have experienced in my association with MSU. I totally disagree with the decision to fire Mike Kramer. If anyone should be fired it should be Peter Fields for his inept handling of this decision. Peter Fields has not met my expectations as an AD since he came to MSU. I have never seen him at the Booster events and he acts as if he is too good to associate with the Bobcat Boosters. On the other hand, Mike Kramer has been very visible and he has brought back the football program from the brink of death that his predecessor took us to. Mike cannot be blamed for the actions of some of his previous athletes, especially when he cannot control their actions when they are not under his control. I am asking you to fire Peter fields and reinstate Mike Kramer.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 20, 2007Comments: Mike Kramer has brought back the enthusiasm to the MSU Football team that was missing. I don't believe it is in his contract to baby sit the ADULTS playing football. Also if he was following the rules adopted by the Department of Athletics at Montana State University, which is headed by Peter Fields, I feel it is he who should be released. These problems have arisen since HE (Peter Fields) took stewardship of the athletic department.Flag
