The purpose of this petition is to oppose the take over of independent physician practices by greedy corporate hospitals like Centura and HCA that result in monopolies thereby leaving consumers without affordable, convenient, affable, quality health care choice. Hospitals are solely responsible for $315 billion dollars in operational and administrative waste. Health administration costs $91 billion dollars or 14% of total health care spending due to system structure, redundancies, including unnecessary admissions and re-admissions, billing fraud (charging for tests and procedures that did not occur), duplicate billing and marking up test prices in amounts over 800% over a private practice physician's office. Hospitals are buying up medical practices in order to maintain control of market share leaving millions of Colorado citizens without choice of where to obtain healthcare. Hospital specialists "churn" out unnecessary tests because that is how the hospitals churn profits. The tests may not be necessary or affordable. We the people petition members of Congress both at the state and federal level to enact legislation that prevents hospitals from stealing away doctors who provide affordable, accessible, affable health care for Colorado citizens.
