Florida prosecutor Angela Corey and her team need to go. Let's help them into an early retirement. You witnessed the incompetent efforts by them in trying Zimmerman- the child-killer. to make matters worse, look at what she did to Marissa Alexander. Don't be fooled, the prosecutorial team is not incompetent, their efforts were. Some people think they tanked the case because their hearts were not in it. Whatever the case may be, we will never no, we can only judge them on their performance. A first -year law school student could have done better than these veteran prosecutors did. Trayvon's parents counted on Angela Corey and she let them down. They helped the defense win. Trayvon was turned into a street thug who looked suspicious and had no right to Stand His Ground. The victim became the perpretrator. Read this from MSNBC: Late Saturday evening, George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The issue of self-defense played a central role in Zimmerman’s not guilty plea and his defense’s argument against the second-degree murder charges, and his acquittal is drawing comparisons in the media to the verdict of another high-profile Florida shooting incident: the case of Marissa Alexander. Alexander, an African-American Florida woman, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2012 for shooting what she described as warning shots into a wall during a confrontation with her husband. Alexander’s lawyers claimed self-defense in the case, and said her husband had a history of abuse in their relationship. They invoked Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which gives people the right to use lethal force if they feel their life is threatened. The jury ultimately sided with prosecutors in deciding Alexander’s actions were not in self-defense, WJXT reported. Her sentencing fell under the guidelines of what’s known in Florida as the “10-20-Life” law, which set certain mandatory minimum sentences for crimes committed with a firearm. The law enacted in 1999 requires that any crime committed with a gun earns the perpetrator a minimum ten year sentence, as the Florida Department of Corrections explains. If the firearm is discharged, the convicted will receive a 20-year minimum sentence, and if shots fired from the gun injure or kill anyone, the minimum sentence is 25-years to life. Angela Corey, who oversaw the prosecution of Zimmerman, also tried the case against Alexander, and defended the sentencing at the time. As one lawyer said on MSNBC, Angela Corey is a public menace. I am not sure what the legal process is for impeaching a politically- appointed judge is, but we need to find out and don't stop until she is removed from office. Was I the only one mortified by their lackluster performance during the trial? Was I the only one who noticed how gleeful she sounded when she took the podium for the press conference after the child-killer was set free? What about the juror B37? The other hypocrites (fellow jurors) are trying to distance themselves from her now. Why didn't they distance themselves from her in the deliberation room? Too late now...we don't want to hear from any of them. Trayvon's blood is on their hands. The legal system failed Trayvon , his parents and Marissa Alexander. Let's start to make things right. We can't bring back Trayvon, but we can stop Angela Corey from doing this again.
