Maida Hilll is a multicultural and precious place at the apex of Elgin Avenue and Harrow Road. The local community comes from all over the world: Middle East, Asian subcontinent, Afro-Carribean, Polish, Philippine as well as the English residents that have been here for years... all shapes, sizes, colours and creeds living together in harmony.

It forms the beating and pulsing heart of the Notting Hill carnival every year, serving up jerk chicken, rice and peas and a host of spicy delights. Previously, the underfunded market was selling foods from these local communities that was Halal in accordance with the dietary preferences to the vast majority of residents. And it formed a pleasant hub every weekend of local activity.

These local traders have had their licences revoked. For what? For big business KERB which is selling overpriced "street food" that doesn't hold any appeal and is out of the price range for local residents.

Instead of support the local needs of businesses and communities, we are now subject to bus loads of people from outside the area who have no interest in Maida Hill which will eventually look like all the ubiquitous spaces in East London with local spice squeezed out.

Get out of West London KERB... we don't want you!!!
