Now he is done for the rest of the season and since his team has no hopes of seeing the playoffs now, he’s done his junior career for good.

He has played in 259 games and was one away from his 260th.

Now he needs to play in his 260th with this proposed idea.

Dress him for warm ups.  Let him skate during warm ups.  Come game time, bench him.  Even though he is on the bench he is still considered a player in that game.  He wouldn’t be a scratch, just benched.  He would get his 260th game.  And all the fans would still get to see him go out not holding his wrist in pain, but as a happy boy :’)
