Germs on Shopping Carts

The petition

Bacteria and viruses such as staphylococci, fecal strep, e-coli, influenza and salmonella are all known to be present on the handles and baskets of shopping carts. These germs can cause illnesses that can potentially be detrimental to your health, for example, the flu, common colds, food poisoning, gastro-intestinal upset, and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The risks from these germs can be minimized by using sanitizing agents, such as alcohol based hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.
Our goal is to have the Price Chopper grocery store located off of Oxford Street and Wonderland Road install hand sanitizer pumps and disinfecting wipes for shopping cart handles in their store. This goal is aimed at increasing customer safety by decreasing the transmission of infectious diseases via shopping cart handles. By signing this petition you will help in demonstrating public interest in this matter.
