Currently in the state of Georgia NOBODY but a spouse may legally place a marker on their spouse's grave. We believe in the event that a grave site remains unmarked by the spouse over 12 months time from the date of burial a parent if applicable, a child if parents deceased or sibling if no child exists should have the right to have a marker placed on their relative's grave site. If there are any concerns regarding religious beliefs law could stipulate military marker if applicable or limit the marker to name and date of birth and death. BASICALLY GEORGIA SHOULD CONSIDER A BURIAL SITE ABANDONED AFTER 12 MONTHS & A BLOOD RELATIVE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO HONOR THEIR LOVED ONE WITH A BURIAL MARKER. We believe that no loved one or Veteran should be dishonored by laying in an unmakered grave
