(1) We the undersigned Georgetown residents request the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) to reconsider their decision not to install Capital Bikeshare Stations in the Georgetown neighborhood in locations accessible to residents of the East and West Villages. (2) We further request the Georgetown ANC to reconsider their decision to oppose a Capital Bikeshare Station in front of the Car Barn, which would be accessible to residents in the West Village, following protest by neighboring homeowners. (3) We further request the Georgetown ANC to pass a resolution requesting that DDOT install Capital Bikeshare Stations in the Georgetown neighborhood in locations accessible to residents of the East and West Villages. We make these requests for the following reasons: -- We are Georgetowners who bike for commute, exercise or pleasure. -- According to Census data, 1 out of 25 Georgetowners bike to work. -- We are not concerned with the noise level that a Capital Bikeshare Location would create near our homes, and are more concerned with the noise level of car traffic which increased bike usage will help mitigate. While the above outlines our general position, we would welcome a renewed dialogue with the small number of residents who have come out in opposition. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate in finding mutually agreeable locations, as long as they are accessible to residents of the East and West Villages.
