Name: Richard Dennett on Jul 24, 2007Comments: These new laws seem to me a panic measure in the aftermath of the smoking ban. Surely if these new conditions were to be implemented sfter the ban anyway, licensees and customers should have at least been consulted or informed.Flag

Name: Richard Smith on Jul 24, 2007Comments: This is outrageous. On the continent they have a superb 'al fresco' culture that is sadly lacking in the UK. If anything, outside drinking/dining at establishments should be encouraged. Other benefits include health and safety issues of overcrouded venues and reduced intoxication as a result of outside, fresh air.Flag

Name: Sally-Ann Meredith on Jul 24, 2007Comments: Total nonsense. The Old Town is imeasurably safer and nicer than the town itself where outside drinking is permitted and there is trouble and noise night after night, why ruin the one good area in this otherwise awful town.Flag

Name: Daniella Grando on Jul 24, 2007Comments: I currently live in George Street and I think the new bye law is absolutely ridiculous and totally agree with what has been said above. When I moved into George Street I knew that it was never going to be a quiet street but that didn't bother me as the street is by far the best area in Hastings.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2007Comments: Dont be so stupid! George street would lose everything for evening trade if this liscence keeps up. Its a wicked place to drink and everyone goes there. Its more friendly than town and yet people drink outside in town all the time...give us our street drinking back and stop thinking of poor excuses as to why we shouldnt!Flag

Name: Chris C on Jul 24, 2007Comments: If there had been a stronger police presence around before the "trouble" that they are bleating about would not have started. The Old Town has always been the "grown up" place to drink but has been ignored while the police have concerntrated on the town, it's no wonder the "trouble" has moved. Look at how the problem was caused. The horse has bolted - too late to lock the stable door.Flag

Name: Kate Roach on Jul 25, 2007Comments: I think this is absolutely ridiculous. We cant smoke inside and cant drink outside, meaning we have to leace our drink inside, unattended whilst we go our for a smoke. This is the one thing police have managed to drum into me, never leave your drink unattended. It's going to lead to an increase date rape cases. I hope the police and Hastings Borough Council can live with themselvs knowing that they are the cause.Flag
