Comments: Both Brent Breithaupt and the UW Geological Museum were an important part of my professional and educational experience as an undergraduate at UWyo. Without either, I would not have been able to accomplish many of my career goals. The lost of such an important educational resource to both the University and the world is a great tradegy.

Comments: As a student, both undergraduate and graduate, in geology, the UW Geological Museum was crucial to my understanding of our natural world. This is a place steeped in history and Brent Breithaupt is an imperative part of the experience. Brent could convey his love of geology and history to people of all ages, and people from all over the world came to see our museum. There are few other things on the UW campus that would capture tourists through Laramie. Even considering closing this museum is a travesty, and will only be a detriment to the entire UW community. Future generations will not get the quality education that we are proud to say we received.

Comments: To lose such an excellent geological museum in the heart of a geologically significant area of the United States would be a tragedy for the staff, students and researchers who rely on the expertise and resources that the museum offers.

Comments: You can do something to increase the funding at the university, from bake sales to an art auction, or perhaps a 30-hour telethon. This is supposed to be one the states rich in geology and science. Why shut down a museum that is devoted to that Makes about as much sense as a murdered stillborn baby. Think about this.

Comments: The University of Wyoming Geological Museum is a world class facility and the only entity of its kind in Wyoming. Its employees have an established record of valuable research; losing this would be an absolute tragedy for the state, and would be a black mark on the widespread perception of how Wyoming perceives its natural history.

Comments: The potential closure of this important museum is very distressing news. The Museum and its staff are long established colleagues to me and my fellow researchers and Princeton University and the New Jersey State Museum. Wyoming has a worldwide reputation for its paleontological treasures, and the Geological Museum is the anchor institution for all of us who have interests there. Please keep the Museum for the sake of all of us. David C. Parris, Curator of Natural History New Jersey State Museum

Comments: The museum provides great publicity for the university and is an excellent opportunity for the students at UW. It appears that the president and provost have not done their homework as to the true asset of the museum and what it provides to the university.

Comments: The University of Wyoming Geological Museum, its staff, and its collections are invaluable assets not only to local students, faculty, and general community, but also to a wider community of visiting scholars, scientists who deposit specimens at the museum, and even tourists. The summer field course I instruct for the University of Pittsburgh could not operate in the same way without access to the displays and collections at the museum, and especially without the joyfully conveyed expertise of Brent Breithaupt. The University of Wyoming will be losing one of its most visible and enthusiastic assets if it follows through with this plan - Brent was recently featured in the AP news globally for his work on dinosaur footprints (even my grandmother in Rapid City, SD forwarded me a clipping). The University administrators desperately need to consider the broader implications of these cuts, especially what will happen to the geological and paleontological specimens that are reposited at the museum.
