    Comments: I am glad of this effort and hope its success will bring about an enlargement of the recognition of Meade's contribution to his country's union. Reading This Hallowed Ground, I look in vain for words of praise for Meade. Researching Abner Doubleday's curse of Meade and his descendants, the press blackout on Meade, and the congressional inquiries he endured, I'm shocked by the ingratitude, jealousy and unkindness of Meade's contemporaries and am glad of the Meade Society's work. I will join the effort myself. I applaud it.
