| 1 | Anonymous | I just got my Mac Pro this December to replace a failing Power Mac G5, and now, one month later I find that I am already at a dead end with regard to my graphic card options. I feel like a total sucker right now. |
| 2 | Vincent Camilleri | I'm a first year university student and just purchased this mac pro b/c of it's expandability. After spending over three thousand dollars (which is by no means a small amount to) on this machine, it's horrible to think that it's upgrade potential with regards to video ends here. I'm studying multimedia which includes video/photo editing as well as web design, and if this Mac Pro will not support anything higher than the sub-par video-cards offered approximately one year ago, then perhaps this was the wrong system to invest in. I honestly hope this gets fixed, for such a powerful machine, it seems such a shame not to compliment it with the latest and greatest hardware which should be compatible already. |
| 3 | Freddie | Diced to spent more money and buy a Mac Pro instead of an iMac as the Pro is SUPPOSE to be upgradable where the iMac is not. Bought my Mc last November and it is only weeks old and now with the new release I've got to fine out I can not even upgrade a simple graphics card. Move from Microsoft to Apple but looks if this might have been a mistake. |
| 4 | Daniel Egan | Hopefuly this will be a short term problem, with not having a 8800 board that is capable with our "old" MacPros. If not, then "cya" Mac/Apple, back to the dark side I go after joining the mac camp with a rev B Bondi iMac, then a Sawtooth, and now for what all intense purposes appears to be a toothless wonder. Way to go.
No new 8800 video, one less customer in your base. |
| 5 | Anonymous | When Apple made some really big huge changes with Mac Pro that they were going to be the FIRST mac thats Intel supported and fully upgradeable (within reason) I converted to Mac Pro. I stayed a loyalist to Microsoft for all my life and then told everyone to stop buying Microsoft PCs and buy Macs because they could run anything including Osx and WIndows, as well as being the most powerful computer. The fact I liked was it was going to be upgradeable, more so than the G5. But In this case only months later we are shafted and this is not true.
If this is not fixed, my words are loud to be heard to reconvert the forums buddies and friends who converted to Mac Pros and go back to buying PC.
Such a small thing could keep loyal fans, what money is gained through this?
"There is no real technical reason why it cannot be made to work. Only Apple's arrogance is stopping it."
" I don't see the point in buying a Mac Pro if it is hardly any more upgradeable internally than the iMac." |

| 7 | Joseph Wiedermann | As an owner of 2 MacPros, and over 15 previous Apple computers in my family, I am thoroughly disgusted. An un-expandable high end machine is out and out theft. You folks have actually managed to make me contemplate switching to a PC |
| 8 | Hunter Ware | This is especially egregious given that the entire rational of the Mac Pro is expandability. |
| 9 | Michael Klein | A simple firmware upgrade on the card or Mac Pro is all we need!!! |
| 10 | John Peterson | For the love of god! How can this card not work in "older" Mac Pros? I bought a very expensive computer in September of 2006 and it is impossible for me to upgrade to a decent current graphics card. I thought Apple were the good guys? PC here I come... |

This is an utter outrage. . . Especially when you take into account how horrible the ATI X1900XT has been to Mac Pro owners. |
| 12 | PL Barton | Bad call Apple. The ATI 1900 in my MacPro can't run 10 minutes without overheating and crashing the system. Where is a WORKING upgrade? |

| 14 | Mike Van Sande | |
| 15 | Cliff Hales | A pro machine should be upgradable. |
| 16 | Anonymous | That there is no GPU upgrade path on a $5K machine that is only months old is a black mark on Apple's reputation. |
| 17 | Andrew Beavis | |
| 18 | christopher murphy | |
| 19 | Timothy Brown | There is no excuse not to do this Apple. There is no technical limitation other than the artificial one you've created. |
| 20 | Anonymous | This was a discusting behiavour from apples behalf for all us MP users. Apples misleading advertizement and the whole active denial of better cards is beyond comprehension. Never tought that apple would "pull a microsoft" but That day apparently has come.
Way to go,Apple. |

| 23 | Tim Burns | The Mac Pro doesn't deserve the 'Pro' name if Apple can't offer competitive graphics options like those so commonly available in the Windows world. Terrible move, Apple. Terrible. |
| 24 | Alex Cherry | The point of the Mac Pro is upgradeability. PLEASE give us an option newer than the 1900xt. |
| 25 | Philip Coats | PLEASE! |
| 26 | Joseph Reafsnyder | |
| 27 | Mike Green | |
| 28 | Eric W. | I purchased my 4000+ dollar mac pro with the understanding that I could upgrade to newer cards once they've become available.
Now i hear that this will not be an option.
Apple, im sorry..if you dont fix this...you will lose many customers. I already know 3 people in a day who have put their mac pros up for sale in order to buy a new PC, not a new MAC |
| 29 | Douglas Carroll | You guys are seriously making me reconsider my 12+ years of Macintosh purchases if this isn't delt with immediately..... |
| 30 | Steven W Riggins | To not offer newer video cards, either directly from Apple or from the card manufacturers, is an embarrassment and a slap to Apple customers. |
| 31 | Brian Everitt | Please make this new video card compatible with my beloved Mac Pro I bought in November of 2007 (14 months ago). |

| 34 | Anonymous | A PART OF ME HAS DIED APPLE, GIVE US THE 8800 GT FOR THE OLD MAC PRO'S |
| 35 | Anonymous | This is ridiculous. You should make this backwards compatible and also make better video cards available. |
| 36 | Ian Dunlop | |
| 37 | Alberto Macias | I cant understand why in the shop page I cant view any anounce about "Early 2008" Mac Pro in the buy process.
¡*!
Is imposible to upgrade the firmware to actual 8800 kit for backward compatibility? |

| 41 | trixxon@gmail.com | Apple Computer is dead, Apple Inc. is a evil |
| 42 | Anonymous | Seriously...people, aren't going to buy a new machine they are just going to hate apple for not letting them upgrade--are you crazy, apple? Who do you think you are? We owe you nothing, and we have been lied to. People really will only put up with so much. Genius bar service is already a scam designed to prove user error, tech service is shit, iphone owners got screwed, and now this. You don't want this to be the straw that broke the camel's back. God help us if you sick people ever get significant marketshare...but of course if you keep pulling stunts like this that will never happen. |
| 43 | Beau Beaird | This is BULLSHIT. How friggin hard is it to make a GPU upgrade....really. |
| 44 | Dusan | I bought about $6000 worth of Apple hardware and software in the past 2 years. Apple must be crazy to be chasing us away like this. |
| 45 | Anonymous | This is friggin Dumb. thats all I can say. |
