Gregory J. ChathamI was surprised as others were when I heard Geauga lake closed. On my last visit there last summer with my grandkids and son, I would have taken more pictures. My first ride on the Big Dipper (Clipper?) was when I was about 9 in 1962 (my first roller coaster). Now with back and neck issues I miss roller coaster rides. I hope it gets saved somehow. We'll have to find another place to get our annual antique photo. From all the evidence it appears Cedar Fair was unfair.
Tyler HanesThanks for coming in and ruining my child hood memories!

Brad P.I agree with everything on this petition. How can an Amusement park, built for fun (not for making the largest profit) suddenly close after 119 years. Cedar Fair is acting as big business and the people of Ohio have had enough. We want our park back! We want Cedar Fair out! This includes Cedar Point. You wouldn't remove rides from Cedar Point and replace them for a waterpark would you?? Its clear the intent all along was to turn Geauga Lake into a waterpark!
ann flynnThere is quite a bit of Geaoug County's history on this piece of land. It is a shame that more could not be done.

Glen ShowmanThis is crazy that you would take this park away. i grew up going to this park and now its gone why?

Amanda LambertI grew up on those rides at Geauga Lake. There are pictures of me when I was about 3 months old at the park. I went every year for the last 22 years. Now where am I going to take my 2 kids?
Caleb SmithI'm not pleased with how they've treated Carowinds as well.

Natalie GrahamDuring our summer 2007 trip to Ohio - due to weather patterns we were unable to visit Geauga Lake. Knowing that the park was in operation for over 100 years, we expected to make it back at a future visit. Unfortunately, that will never be able to happen. If I had known Cedar Fair's intention I would have gone to Geauga Lake in the pouring rain.

Terri FullertonI was really shocked to see that Geauga Lake is being closed...I love amusement parks, and they have always been a part of my life. I went to Geauga Lake and Sea World quite frequently in the 80's...and loved them both...I only wish I had the money to buy it, and get it going again...because another thing that I hate to see, is another abandoned amusement park...that is just sad...I know times are tough, with everything going up in prices, and in order to keep alot of amusement parks going, you have to build what people want. But Geauga Lake just had that old fashioned appeal. Hey maybe Drew Carey can help out??? I know he loved that park...just a suggestion.

willowIts a horrible thing to crush dreams by taking away such a happy place to be. Ohio is already dull with not much activites to do in the short summer. By taking away a family favorite is breaking hearts of many people. Some of those rides were tradition to ride each summerm, such as The Dominator. Cedar Fair only thought about themselves with the removal ogf GL. They didnt care about memories or passio that the park had over Ohio, It was nothing more than a way to get more money. This is a very depressing moment for thousands of people.

JessicaI loved Geauga Lake- I grew up going there as a kid and went with family and friends throughout my teenage and now adult years. I loved it when it was 6 Flags or Geauga Lake- both had great rides and it was close to my hometown of Canton, so we went there alot. I will dearly miss it and The Big Dipper- which was my first rollercoaster.

MALISSA WILSONI am so sad at losing this park, I am a single mom and this was the one place I could afford to take my kids, I could never afford the prices you charge at cedar point and I am sure you could care less but my kids are hurt too. I really thought wow, these guys aren't trying to rip us off, but now I know it was only temporary til you could complete your ultimate goal. Your only care is for people who have a lot of disposable income and can afford your prices at cedar point, you have no thought or concern for people who work for a living and believe their kids deserve to go just as much as any child. I am very disappointed and hurt, thanks so much.

HeidiI loved when the now "geauga lake" was six flags. My family always got season passes because it was so close to us. When it changed to geauga lake and they started to tear down the best rides we stopped getting season passes. Last year me and my friends went and still enjoyed outselves. I am upset to hear that it no longer has some of my favorite rides and will no longer be open. I always liked geauga lake better than cedar point because it was more layed back. Now I will have to go to Cedar point.

Sharon CalhounMy children and I have enjoyed Geauga Lake since their birth, and myself since my teen years. The first "mistake" was closing early in the year, leaving out "The Haunt". I didn't get a season pass the first year they didn't have halloween and had a Cedar Point pass instead, but it was too far to drive and too expensive to take my childrens friends with each trip. Last year we did get a Geauga Lake pass and brought my childrens teenage friends and we all really enjoyed it, but were disappointed that alot of the rides were gone. Since there was no place close for halloween, we went to Kennywood which took 3 hours. One hour for the ride, two hours to park. Geauga Lake could really be profitable if management would just listen to what there customers want in their park. Please do not close your park. Our families need this!

Brian TolleyAs my parents before me when they lost Meyers Lake and Idora Park, I feel I have lost one of the high points of my childhood and teen years. Even worse I will not be able to share the joy GL gave me with my 3 year old son.
MelanieI feel that ceder point has no right to auction your park at any means. I could only understand it, if you havnt payed your bills or the park is being poorly taking care of. otherwise i love geauga lake and i dont want anything to be auctioned !
Rosanne MoxsonI wanted to express my anger that I feel towards cedar fair. My family and I have been season pass holders for the past 5 years and while I enjoyed Geauga Lake greatly, I feel the its demise is because cedar fair failed to do what they promised. I visited Geauga Lake more than 10 times in 2007 and more than 10 times in 2006 and the park was not kept up at all. Bathrooms dirty, rides broken, no new rides added to draw crowd. What baffles me is why they purchased the property and never gave it a chance. My feeling is that they wanted it to fail. They wanted the property to eliminate any competition. I think it was in the cards to purchase and close down.
brian mollohani think they was going to let it go but it hurts my kids cause we went there every year and now we cant which i think sucks and i am boycotting anything dealing with cedar fairs from here on out !!!!!!!
Dale Pilcavage
Teresa ZaryckiThe Big Dipper is a landmark don't let it go.
Gretchan FrancisI rode my first roller coaster at Geauga Lake with my now deceased father. I am truly sad to see it close. This has been on my mind ever since I heard the coasters were being auctioned off. It's like no one wants these coasters.
